El Tari Airport or Eltari Airport (KOE) is an airport in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Kupang is the most important hub for air travel in Nusa Tenggara. Merpati flies to Denpasar daily, Mataram (daily), Waingapu (four weekly), Waikabubak (three weekly), Maumere (daily), Ende (four weekly), Lewoleba (three weekly) and Atambusa (twice weekly). Transusa flies to Kalabahi, Ende, Maumere and Rote. Garuda Air flies daily to Denpasar and on to Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta. Batavia Air flies daily to Surabaya and Jakarta. Lion Air flies exactly the same route. Both operate flexi-fares, depending on how early you book.
Departure tax at Kupang airport

Transport to and from the airport
Kupang's El Tari Airport is 15km east of the town centre. Taxis from the airport to town cost a fixed Rp 50,000. For public transport, turn left out of the terminal and walk 1km to the junction with the main highway, from where the bemos to town cost Rp 3000. Going to the airport, take the Penfui bemo to the junction and then walk.

Kupang city info
Kupang is the provincial capital of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The city is located in West Timor, and had a population estimated at 340,000. As capital of East Nusa Tenggara, the transport and administrative links from Kupang with isolated islands are extensive.
The location was an important port and trading point during the Portuguese and Dutch colonial eras. There are ruins and remnant signs of the colonial presence in the city. The city was an important landing and refueling place for early long distance airplane flights between Europe and Australia in the early twentieth century. It was an important location during the conflict in East Timor, for the Indonesian military, as well as the militias. The camps around Kupang were also of significant impact on the city.
Kupang is the first port of call for yachts in the annual Sail Indonesia rally which starts in Darwin, Australia towards the end of July each year.
