Wings Air heads to Ambon twice a week, and Expressair flies to Jayapura daily except Sunday, alternatively via Sorong-Manokwari and Kaimana-Nabire. Beware that outbound flights are often heavily booked.

Fak Fak (also FakFak or Fak-Fak) is a port town in West Papua, Indonesia and seat of the Fak Fak Regency. It is served by Fakfak Airport. Ferries also arrive in Fak-Fak from Ambon in Maluku Province. Fak-Fak is an all-day bus trip from the Western Papua capital, Jayapura.

Fak Fak port and regency capital rambles up and down green hills on Bomberai Penisula., along with Monokwari. Fak-Fak was one of the first successful Dutch settlements in Papua, established in 1898. It merits a special trip if you are interested in ancient rock paintings. The town of Fak-Fak is a historical town in lush surroundings and is gateway to this part of Papua for those arriving by boat. Fak-Fak is a sizeable town that is spit into districts and villages, also encompassing the mining district of Freeport. Fak-Fak was taken by the Japanese in WWII and has a poignant monument commemorating the people that died at their hand.
