Malindo Air cheap flights to Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Not all low-cost airline fares are cheap. To enjoy low price tickets, get them early – at least 3 weeks in advance. Near your travel date, Malindo Air prices will be similar to those offered by the full-service airlines. Use the Flight Scanner to find the dates with the lowest fares.
Upgrade to Business for less
For long night flights consider booking Economy, then by using the new Malindo On Board Upgrade service, switch your seat to full leather, roomy 45-inches Business Class seat located in front of the plane. As you are booking it last-minute, the price the airline will offer you will be significantly lower than standard Business Class fare. Just ask your flight attendant for seat availability, then pay with your credit card.
Become a frequent flyer
Sign up for Malindo Miles frequent flyer program to enjoy additional benefits and redeem free flights. The program is often described by travelers as confusing, and only full-fare Economy and Business Class tickets will earn you miles (no miles for discounted, promo fares) – but still, it may be worth trying, as the membership is free.

Where we are heading? What is the recovery in tourism like? Which Asian countries are open for tourism? We are keeping you informed about the post-pandemic era of travel – with a special focus on air travel in Asia and the Pacific.
Learn about the current guidelines and regulations introduced by Malindo Air in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Health precautions, changes to the flight schedule, coronavirus tests requirements, vaccinations, and more.
Malindo airline doesn’t require passengers to check-in online, but it is recommended if you want to avoid queues in front of check-in kiosks at the airport. Learn about check-in times and find out about common issues.
It is always cheaper. Plan your baggage in advance and don’t just look at the maximum weight – make sure you are within the specified size (length/width/height) and the number of bags allowed. It will be enormously expensive if you go over and have to purchase additional kgs during check-in at the airport. Huge fees are awaiting you if the airline staff catches you with oversized luggage at the boarding gates!
Adjust your travel dates
Prices skyrocket during holidays – watch out for local holidays and adjust your travel dates to avoid expensive tickets. Cheap flights are non-existent during popular “red days” like Chinese New Year or Idul Fitri. Prices can go as high as 5 times the price of the ticket for non-peak dates.
Watch for a good sale
Malindo publishes its web promotions frequently. To get a great bargain be sure to watch the sales on their website over the course of several weeks. Subscribe to their newsletter and follow Malindo Air accounts on social media. Or just use Promo Radar that collects promotions from all airlines in one place.
Pre-book your meal
In Economy, meals are not included in the price of your ticket. If you think you may want a meal in-flight, make the purchase while you’re booking, as the meal selection for buying onboard is usually limited and prices are higher. Malindo meals are predominantly Asian cuisine (such as nasi lemak, chicken biryani, or nasi goreng), but also include more western dishes (mushroom omelet, salads, penne pasta, etc.). The meals are quite tasty, flavorful, and fresh and we recommend pre-booking especially for longer flights. Special meals such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, kosher, etc are only available for pre-purchasing.
If you enjoy having a beer or a drink during the trip, you may think about it in advance. Some Islamic countries such as Malaysia or Indonesia have completely dry airports, especially if you are taking a domestic flight. For such short flights, the inflight menu on the Malindo plane may not have alcoholic drinks available for purchase.
Combine baggage allowances
If you are traveling with a partner or with a family, make sure you book all the tickets at once, within the same reservation. You will receive a single booking reference (or PNR – Passenger Name Record) and this will allow you to combine the baggage allowances for all passengers listed on the booking. So if someone from your group travels with just a small 10kg checked bag, you can use his remaining allowance to bring more luggage weight than you’d be entitled to if all tickets were bought separately.
Book with a travel agent if your card is not accepted
Lion Air may not accept all credit or debit cards, especially those issued in non-Asian countries. Try to book your flight with one of our partners instead. Start with a flight search, then choose the partner offering the best deal for your ticket. Being independent OTA (Online Travel Agent) they focus on having the widest range of payment methods available – including most credit/debit cards, PayPal, Stripe, Google Pay, cryptocurrency, and more.
Operating from a hub at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), Malindo Air offers a wide range of routes in the Asia Pacific, including frequent flights from/to Australia. As it is a low-cost airline, the luxury is not expected, but we can say that Malindo Air offers a good experience for the cost. The baggage policy isn’t the clearest, and the lowest tier of fares don’t include any free baggage allowance. Overall, a good choice if all you need is a quick flight to your destination.
