Through the lens of AI

Online reviews from passengers are invaluable for determining if SAS is the right choice for you. However, manually sifting through countless reviews can be incredibly time-consuming and impractical.

As AI excels at quickly processing large volumes of data, we’re adopting it as a tool for sentiment analysis. It detects the emotional tone in SAS reviews, and quickly gauges travelers’ opinions on the airline’s offerings. We summarize them into concise and informative snippets to help you understand how other travelers feel about SAS.

Passenger's experience

Drawing from a diverse array of passenger feedback, this is what it's truly like to fly with SAS. Learn about the airline class of service, seating choices and comfort, baggage policies, Wi-Fi, and ticket flexibility.

What can I expect when flying with SAS?

You can expect decent but not outstanding service from SAS. The airline offers a reliable and punctual flight experience, spacious, clean cabins, and a friendly and helpful crew.

However, the airline also has some drawbacks, such as poor and expensive food and beverages, limited and outdated entertainment and wi-fi, and rigid and unresponsive customer support.

The airline is suitable for travelers who are looking for a fair value for money but not for those who are seeking a remarkable or luxurious flight experience.

What are the seating options?

SAS offers different seating options depending on the flight duration and destination. Within Europe, the airline has two classes: Economy Class (SAS Go) and Premium Economy Class (SAS Plus).

Long-haul flights have three classes: Business Class (SAS Business), Premium Economy Class (SAS Plus), and Economy Class (SAS Go). The seats vary regarding legroom, recline, width, pitch, and amenities.

The Business Class seats are fully flat and have direct aisle access, while the Premium Economy Class seats have extra legroom and recline. The Economy Class seats are standard and have limited recline and pitch.

Is SAS economy comfortable?

SAS economy class is comfortable enough for short-haul flights, but not very comfortable for long-haul flights. The seats have average legroom and width, but they are not very padded or ergonomic.

The recline and pitch are also limited, making it hard to sleep or relax. The amenities are basic, such as a pillow, a blanket, and a headset. The food and beverages are mediocre and often not complimentary.

Entertainment and Wi-Fi are scarce and often not working. The economy class is suitable for travelers who are on a budget or who do not mind compromising on comfort.

What is the baggage allowance?

The amount of baggage that you can bring with SAS varies depending on several factors, such as the class of travel, the destination, and the membership level. If you travel in Economy Class (SAS Go), you can bring one carry-on baggage of up to 8 kg and one personal item, but you may not have any checked baggage on short-haul flights, unless you book with SAS Go Smart or SAS Go Pro.

On long-haul flights, you can have one checked baggage of up to 23 kg. If you travel in Premium Economy Class (SAS Plus), you can have the same carry-on baggage as Economy Class, but you can also have two checked baggage up to 23 kg each.

If you travel in Business Class (SAS Business), you can have two carry-on baggage of up to 8 kg each and one personal item, as well as two, checked baggage of up to 32 kg each. Additionally, if you are a EuroBonus member, you can enjoy an extra baggage allowance depending on your membership level.

Does SAS have Wi-Fi?

SAS has Wi-Fi on most of its flights, but it is not very reliable or fast. The Wi-Fi service is provided by Panasonic Avionics Corporation or Viasat Inc., depending on the aircraft type. The Wi-Fi service is free for Business Class passengers, EuroBonus Gold and Diamond members, and Star Alliance Gold members.

For other passengers, the Wi-Fi service costs from €4.90 to €19.90 per flight or per hour, depending on the flight duration and destination. However, many passengers complain that the Wi-Fi service is often not working or is very slow.
