Super Air Jet essentials
What is Super Air Jet?
Super Air Jet is a new Indonesian airline (founded in March 2021), with a focus on the millennial generation aviation market. Being a ULCC (Ultra Low-Cost Carrier) it targets low-budget travelers offering cheap flights in Indonesia (with plans to expand to international routes in the near future).
Who is operating Super Air Jet?
Super Air Jet is owned by Farian and Davin Kirana, the sons of Rusdi and Kusnan Kirana, who both founded the Lion Air group in 1999. According to records from Kementerian Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia (the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights), the airline is managed through the PT Kabin Kita Top, a company that owns 99,8 % of PT Super Air Jet. Rudy Lumingkewas (CEO of Lion Air Group) and Achmad Hasan (Director of Trade in Lion Air Group) own the remaining 0.2% of shares in PT Super Air Jet.
The new part of Lion Air Group?
Lion Air is owned by Indonesian-Chinese tycoons Rusdi and Kusnan Kirana. Its parent company Lion Air Group, with a portfolio of local brands: Batik Air, Malindo Air, Thai Lion Air, and Wings Air, dominates the Indonesian market with over 50% market share. Rusdi Kirana is said to be the founder of Super Air Jet, even though the airline spokesperson claims that Super Air Jet is not part of or a subsidiary of the Lion Air Group. However, the fact that the new SAJ’s CEO, Ari Azhari, has come from the General Manager position at Lion Air Group, and the recent injection of funds from Rusdi Kirana to Super Air Jet accounts, point to a direct connection between the two companies.
Lion Air Group
Batik Air — full-service airline with improved cabin comfort, onboard services, and business class. Malindo Air — full-service airline, owned Lion Air Group, focusing on the Malaysian market. Thai Lion Air — full-service airline, operating by Thai partners of Lion Air Group, focusing on the Thai market. Wings Air — LCC operating by Lion Air Group, focusing on short-haul regional flight services in Indonesia. Super Air Jet (?) — New Indonesian low-cost airline linked to the Lion Air Group.
Super Air Jet ticket prices
