Update on international flights to Australia

International travel to and from Australia is gradually resuming. Some airlines, including Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Air Canada, have already restarted their Australian and international routes.

Transit through Australia

Transit via Australian airports is allowed without restrictions as long as you are transiting for no longer than 72 hours. You must hold a valid visa or be from an eligible country to Transit Without a Visa (TWOV).

Update on international flights to Cambodia

Due to travel restrictions, international commercial flights to and from Cambodia operate with limited capacity. Flights to Cambodia may now require transfer via international hubs in Southeast Asia.

Transit through Cambodia

Transit via Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) in Cambodia is permitted for most foreign nationals. If you don’t have a boarding pass for a connecting flight, you should contact the transit security check before proceeding to the gate.

Update on international flights to China

Commercial outbound flights to China are still operating at limited capacity. China is expected to keep the current tight caps on international flights throughout the first half of 2022.

Currently, transit through Chinese airports is only allowed for passengers with diplomatic, public service, courtesy, or C visas.

Update on international flights to Fiji

As the country reopened to international tourism on December 1, 2021, airlines are gradually resuming inbound and outbound flights. Fiji Airways, Qantas, American Airlines, and Air New Zealand are among the carriers that offer non-stop flights to Fiji.

You can stay within the airport for up to 10 hours to connect to another flight without having to do any health tests.

Update on international flights to Hong Kong

International flights to Hong Kong operate with limited schedules. Among airlines serving Hong Kong now are Hong Kong Airlines, AirAsia X, ANA, Air Canada, Cathay Pacific, EVA Air, China Airlines, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, and Singapore Airlines.

Transit through Hong Kong

Transiting through Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) is allowed, as long as (1) passenger isn’t coming from a high-risk country, (2) connection time is within 24 hours, (3) itinerary is contained in a single booking, (4) all the boarding passes are already printed, (5) baggage is checked through until the final destination, and (6) passenger can present a negative PCR test result. Transiting to destinations in Mainland China remains unavailable.

Update on international flights to India

Regular international flights remain suspended. Only repatriation and “travel bubbles” flights from various countries are operating – although only foreigners meeting the visa criteria for entry are allowed onboard. All travelers eligible to enter India must submit a self-declaration form (SDF) on the Air Suvidha Portal at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel.

Transit through India

Transit in India is allowed. All passengers must mention clearly in the SDF that they plan to take a transit flight. Foreign nationals stuck in neighboring countries who wish to return to their country through India are allowed to transit.

Update on international flights to Indonesia

International flights to Indonesia are available for those with valid visas and Indonesian citizens. Visitors can enter through the airports at Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta), Ngurah Rai (Bali), Hang Nadim (Batam), and Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjung Pinang).

Transit through Indonesia

Currently, foreign passengers are not allowed to transit through Indonesian airports.

Update on international flights to Japan

International flights to Japan currently operate with limited capacity, serving passengers that are entitled to enter the country (citizens and residents, government officials, essential travelers). Most flights land at Tokyo airports – Narita International Airport (NRT) and Haneda Airport (HND), and some flights go to Osaka and Kyoto.

Transit through Japan

Transit via Narita International Airport is allowed, as long as the connecting flight is on the same calendar day. Upon arrival at the airport, you do not need to submit any documents and pass sanitary checks.

Update on international flights to Malaysia

International flights to Malaysia are still limited to essential travelers, government officials, and repatriated citizens. Malaysia Airlines is gradually resuming some of its international flights starting July 2021 to facilitate essential travel only.

Transit through Malaysia

Transiting through Malaysia is allowed, and you can transit via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) as long as you remain airside (for a maximum of 24 hours). Transit that requires passage through immigration (to collect bags, or to move between the two airport terminals – KLIA and KLIA2) is not possible.

Update on international flights to Maldives

Commercial outbound flights to the Maldives are resumed with normal traveling procedures. Due to the recent spike in demand, flight frequencies to Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé Atoll and Gan International Airport (GAN) in Addu Atoll are being gradually increased. Among airlines that serve the Maldives are Air India, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, SriLankan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Turkish Airlines.

Most commercial flights to Myanmar are suspended. Based on recent political events, and the significant disruptions to Myanmar’s transportation network the current travel advice from most governments is do not travel to Myanmar.

Update on international flights to Nepal

International flights gradually resume, starting with flights to Kathmandu from China (Chengdu, Guangzhou ), India (New Delhi), Japan, Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Singapore, Turkey (Istanbul), Saudi Arabia (Dammam), Kuwait, Qatar (Doha), South Korea (Seoul), and Oman (Muscat).

Among the airlines serving the routes above are Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Air Arabia, FlyDubai, Jazeera Airways, and Salam Air.

Update on international flights to New Zealand

International commercial flights to New Zealand are available, but are limited as the country’s borders are closed to almost all travelers.

Transit through New Zealand

Transiting through New Zealand is allowed but you may need a transit visa or an NZeTA. Travelers can only transit through Auckland International Airport (AKL), where they can remain in transit for up to 24 hours.

International flights to Pacific Islands

Due to travel restrictions, most international commercial flights to and from Pacific Islands are suspended. Travel to most islands is only available if you have been granted an individual exemption from the local government body. The only exceptions are country-specific travel bubbles (such as from the Cook Islands and Niue to New Zealand).

Update on international flights to Papua New Guinea

International flights to Papua New Guinea are operating but at limited capacity. You can fly to Port Moresby (Jacksons International Airport – POM) from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, and Pacific Islands (Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, Samoa, Tonga, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia).

Update on international flights to Philippines

Since the lifting of the travel ban in February 2022, international flights to and from the Philippines have been gradually resuming. Most airlines flying to the Philippines offer flights to the country’s largest airports, including Manila, Cebu, and Davao.

Transit via Manila International Airport (MNL) airports is allowed, as long as you are arriving from the selected list of countries.

Update on international flights to Singapore

International flights to Singapore are operating although at limited capacity. As Singapore begins to reopen its borders, most airlines are gradually resuming international flights to and from Singapore. From September 2021 the quarantine-free travel bubble with selected countries is open for vaccinated travelers.

Transit through Singapore

Transit through Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) is permitted. Passengers from countries that Singapore has not yet lifted border restrictions to are required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure.

Update on international flights to South Korea

Due to travel restrictions, arriving on international commercial flights to South Korea is only permitted for those with a valid entry permit or visa.

Transit through South Korea

Transiting Korea is possible if the connecting flight is within 24 hours. Any passenger transiting through Seoul Incheon Airport must have a confirmed ticket/boarding pass to the final destination.

Update on international flights to Sri Lanka

Two main airports: Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo) and Mattala International Airport (Hambantota) have been opened on 21 January 2021. International flights are gradually being resumed.

Transit through Sri Lanka

Transit via Sri Lanka’s airports is allowed, as long as the connecting flight is within 10 hours of arrival. A transit visa is not required if you are not leaving the airport.

Taiwan is open for essential travel only, and most international commercial flights to and from Taiwan operate on a limited schedule.

Transit through Taiwan

Due to travel restrictions, foreign nationals are not permitted to transit through Taiwan airports until further notice.

Update on international flights to Thailand

International flights to Thailand (including Phuket) are gradually resuming, as the country starts to reopen for foreign tourists. Flights from the US, Europe, Singapore, and some other Asian countries are available, with destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, and Koh Samui.

Transit through Thailand

International passengers can transit Surnavbahumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok, as long as the duration of transit is under 12 hours and the passenger possesses relevant documentation.

Update on international flights to UAE

As the travel restrictions have been lifted, most international commercial flights to and from the United Arab Emirates have been resumed.

Transit through UAE

Transit via Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other airports in the United Arab Emirates is allowed, as long as the passenger completes all the requirements of their final destination. PCR test certificate is not necessary for most travelers unless it is mandated by their destination.

Update on international flights to Vietnam

Starting 15 February 2022 all limitations on the number of commercial flights to and from Vietnam have been lifted. In the incoming months, the frequency of flights is expected to be restored to the pre-pandemic level.
