Lion Air Passenger Rating
My recent flight from Surabaya to Lombok on Lion Air in September of 2015 was an overall excellent experience. The cheap ticket price allowed me to choose a little higher end accommodations in Lombok, and the flight was a painless 55-minutes long. The plane seemed new, the flight was on time, and I was even able to check a bag for free. Having flown a lot of frustrating low cost flights throughout Indonesia, I was excited that everything went smoothly with Lion Air.
I flew on Lion Air from Kupang to Atambua (both on East Nusa Tenggara) in October of 2015. Although the duration of the flight was short, I enjoyed the added legroom on the new ATR72-600. The flight attendants went over the top to be friendly and accommodating. I fly low cost airlines often, and have noticed they’re extremely unreliable when it comes to flight schedules. I was pleased that my Lion Air flight boarded, departed and landed on time. I’ll definitely fly Lion Air again soon.
I have flown Lion Air multiple times on surf trips throughout Indonesia, and my most recent flight was one of the best yet. I was headed from Balikpapan to Denpasar with a short stop in Makassar. I have long legs and struggle with the small amount of legroom on some Indonesian low-cost airlines. I upgraded to business class for what I thought was an extremely affordable fee and was 100-percent comfortable on each of my flights. There’s no doubt I’ll be hopping aboard another Lion Air flight soon, and I’m sure I’ll be upgrading to business class.

Lion Air Safety
Lion Air Indonesia currently operates its flights with Airbus A330-300, Boeing 737-800, Boeing 737-900ER and Boeing 747-400 aircraft. Lion Air stood a step ahead of its competitors when it was the launch customer for the Boeing 737-900ER in 2005. This plane allows the company to operate more nonstop flights to more destinations with more affordable fares. Lion Air Indonesia’s fleet is currently equipped with 71 Boeing 737-900ER aircraft, 32 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, two Airbus A330-300 aircraft and two Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
The Lion Air fleet is equipped with two Airbus A330-300, 32 Boeing 737-800, 71 Boeing 737-900ER and two Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
Lion Air’s two Airbus A330-300 aircraft are the latest additions to the airline’s fleet. Lion Air uses these twin-aisle aircraft for its busiest domestic flights and long-haul flights to Saudi Arabia. The Airbus A330-300 accommodates 440 passengers in a single class configuration. Its addition to the fleet has reduced the cost of flights that were previously flown on Boeing 747 aircraft.
The Boeing 737-800 is the next generation of Boeing 737 aircraft. This aircraft has replaced the previously used McDonnell Douglas M80 and MD90 aircraft and uses just 80-percent of the fuel consumed by the MD80 on a comparable flight. Lion Air’s Boeing 737-800 is equipped with 189 economy class seats in a one-class seat configuration
The Boeing 737-900ER is the latest generation of the Boeing 737 aircraft and is Lion Air’s most commonly used aircraft. The Boeing 737-900ER can accommodate 220 passengers in a single class configuration. This aircraft offers a higher passenger capacity for longer range routes than its predecessors.
The 737-900ER is equipped with an additional set of exit doors, aerodynamic design changes and an increased range to a stunning 3,200 nautical miles. The operating cost is 6-percent lower per trip and 4-percent lower per seat than its competitors. The 737-900ER offers the same reliability that airlines have come to expect from al 737 aircraft.
The Boeing 747-400 is the best selling Boeing 747 model. The aircraft has proved superior to previous 747 models with more fuel-efficient engines, a larger wingspan, winglets and an optional fuel tank in the plane’s horizontal stabiliser. The aircraft’s innovative glass cockpit eliminated the need of a flight engineer.
