Merpati Nusantara Airlines is a second largest Indonesian airline, based in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. The airline was established in 1962 by the Indonesian government and now it operates domestic flights to 80 destinations in Indonesia and also has international flights t, Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and East Timor (Dili). 70 percent of Merpati's 130 daily flights operate in Eastern Indonesia with Makassar representing a major operational hub. The airline is currently owned by the Indonesian Government (93.2%) and Garuda Indonesia (6.8%).
In Bahasa Indonesia the word "merpati" means "dove", and Nusantara is an Indonesian word for the Indonesian archipelago (it originates from Old Javanese, where it literally means "archipelago").

Merpati tickets booking
Passenger can book ticket on Internet by visiting Tiket2.com website. Merpati tickets reservations are available through online booking until 2 days before the departure; if you want to purchase a ticket for a flight that departures in less than 48 hours, you can do it at Merpati's office at the airport. Please note that once you book the ticket, you will not be able to change the flight details.
You are required to have a printed copy of an e-ticket with you during the journey - it will allows you to enter into the airport, to check-in or to arrange a refund/exchange if such a situation arises. You will receive an e-ticket directly to your email box right after you book Merpati Air flight with Tiket2. To enter the airport and for the check-in, you will also be asked to present a proof identity such as a passport, identity card or Indonesian KTP.
Payment must be fully made during the reservation with Tiket2, so the ticket can be issued. Each reservation has a time window (time limit) when the payment can be made. In case of non-payment, our system will cancel the reservation and will inform you about this fact by email. You will be asked to start the reservation process from the beginning.

Merpati Nusantara Airlines offers online check-in for passengers travelling without luggage. Web check-in is available from 12 to 5 hours before the flight. Web check-in will automatically allocate your seat (unless you have chosen it during the reservation process). Chosen seats will appear on your web boarding pass.
Merpati baggage allowance
Hand baggage. Passenger can take one cabin baggage with a total weight up to 5 kg and a maximum size 56cm x 23cm x 36cm.
Checked-in baggage. When travelling on Merpati Economy Class, the passenger is allowed to take a free of charge baggage with a total weight up to 20 kg. In Class One this allowance rises up to 25 kg. In business class passenger can bring baggage with a maximum total weight of 30 kg.
The above limits are for the most popular jet planes. Aircrafts of a propeller type that serve less popular routes have slightly smaller baggage allowances - Propeller Type I: 15kg and Propeller Type II: 10kg.
